As you drift in this deep, peaceful state, I would like you to imagine a library. A library is a big building with aisles and aisles of books on shelves, and as you picture and imagine your library, you realize the most important aisle there contains all the books of your life. Just picture and imagine your library, the one that contains all the books of your life. And imagine that one special aisle that contains the books that record every instant of your life.
The aisle of the books of your life has books on the right side, and books on the other side. The right side of the aisle is filled with all the positive books that record your dreams, goals, positive memories, and every positive learning experience of your life. The good side of the aisle records every positive thing you have learned from every situation in your life, even the difficult ones. On the right side of the aisle there is a book for every one of your skills and talents, even the ones you have yet to discover. You realize that the books on the right side of the aisle describe you as you truly are, at your very natural best. As you study the positive side of the aisle, you feel a bit surprised and saddened that your subconscious mind hasn’t spent much time with the books on the positive side of the aisle because all the covers are new and unworn.
The other side of the aisle, the not-so-nice side of the aisle, is filled with books that record all the negative thoughts and feelings you have ever had about yourself. It has books for every problem in your life, physical, emotional, mental, social, or financial. It has books that contain all the stress and tension in your life. It has books that contain all the obstacles to you living a peaceful life of rich experience. And it has books about all your fears and self-imposed limitations. All the books on the negative side of your aisle are from the past and are still affecting you today. It is with a shock that you realize your subconscious mind has been spending far too much time reading these negative books… All the spines are broken and bent, the pages are dog-eared and the covers are ragged. And deciding that enough is enough, you decide you have carried these negative books around too long, and wasted too much time with them.
So beginning with the books that contain all the negative thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that you have ever associated with yourself, you take your negative self thoughts and negative self feelings and negative behaviors off the shelf, and load them onto a library cart. You push your negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to the back of the aisle where there is a very large recycling bin. Without even bothering to read them, you hold your past negative self-definitions in your hands and tear them to shreds until only the cover is left. Then, realizing that even the covers of books that define you negatively are no longer worthy of you, you rip the covers of those negative feelings, thoughts and behaviors to shreds and recycle them too.
Next, returning to the not-so-nice side of the aisle, you load the books that contain all your stresses and tensions, worries and concerns on to the cart, and push them back to the back of the aisle. You realize that 90% of what we worry about or stress over never happens or can be handled easily. And the other 10% is out of our control. So worry and stress are totally worthless emotions. You hold your stress, tension, worries and concerns in your hands, remember that they are useless to you and one by one tear up every stress, every tension, every worry and every last concern in your life and recycle them, tossing away every useless worry and stress in your life… and they are all useless.
Feeling lighter and more courageous now, you return to the negative side of the aisle and to the book that contains your major obstacle to living fully. It is the biggest, blackest and heaviest book on the shelf, and it is titled: “My Book of Depression.” The depression book contains all the roots and causes of depression in your life. It contains all the sad feelings and low energy. It contains the pain and lack of interest and everything else that goes with depression. And you realize that enough is enough! You choose that today really is the beginning of a new life. You choose that everything changes for the better NOW. With all your courage and skill, you reach up and take that heavy, heavy book of depression off the shelf. Holding the depression in your hands, you take it back to the recycle bin and you rip your depression to shreds and throw it away with all the other worthless trash. It feels so good to throw that problem out of your life forever.
And finally, feeling great, you return to the aisle, and find your book of limitations and fears… your book of “I Can’t and “Excuses”. This book contains all the limitations you have ever accepted as true about you. They contain all the fears and anxieties that have kept you from experiencing life as richly and fully as you were born to. All of these fears and limitations are from the past, and even though you have accepted them, they were given to you by other people. Other people’s negative limitations on you are no longer part of your life. Remembering that you are an incredible being of vast and unlimited potential, you take your fears and limitations, your I can’ts and excuses, into your hands. You carry them to the recycle bin. Then you rip every one of those fears and limitations to shreds and throw them out of your mind forever, even ripping up the covers so that your mind never collects other people’s fears and limitations again. All your I cant’s and excuses are ripped to shreds along with the covers. And you are free to have, do or be whatever you can dream or imagine. And you are a powerful dreamer.
Now, moving back to the nice right side of the aisle, you pick up some books that you want your subconscious mind to absorb and act upon. First, there is a book, which is even a book in the outer world… the title is “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff – And It’s All Small Stuff”. You direct your subconscious mind to read this inner book thoroughly, and to integrate its instruction not to sweat the small stuff 100% into your outer life.
Next there is your “Book of Undiscovered Talents, Interests and Joys” You pick it up knowing that you have vast internal resources and interests that you have yet to uncover, and that the things in this book can open your life to unexpected joy.
There is your book of “Deepest Dreams, Goals and Desires” that record the soul-deep dreams of your spirit: your reasons for being alive, and all the things you want to accomplish in your time here. Your pick it up, knowing that your subconscious mind has the power to read these deepest dreams, goal and desires, and to make them conscious and guide you in making them manifest and real in your life.
Finally, there is your book, “How to Enjoy Every Moment of Your Life as You Find It”. Knowing that this book is filled with personal information about how your can enjoy every instant of your life as it occurs, even the difficult moments, you take this book with you.
Out in the front of the aisle, there is a reading area with a perfect, large, overstuffed reading chair. You sit down in an open and relaxed state, settling into your chair, knowing that your subconscious mind is now focusing on these great new books to read. As you rest in the chair, simply letting your outer conscious mind float and drift, your powerful inner mind begins reading your new books… “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff”… “Undiscovered Talents”… “Deepest Dreams… and “How to Enjoy Life”.
Your subconscious mind reads these books here in the chair. It reads these powerful new books when you are sleeping and dreaming. It reads these books in every relaxed and quiet moment. And your subconscious mind begins making the information in these books conscious. It begins integrating all the deep wisdom in these inner books into your outer conscious life just as rapidly as you can assimilate the information and the new ways of thinking, feeling and acting. You find yourself living life like a surfer on the Ocean, always going with the flow but directing your ride across life’s waves in the way that brings you the best ride.
