Take in a deep breath, and gently let it go… As your breath goes out, you know this is a special time for you, a time to relax and _______ (achieve your specific goal)…. That’s right; just breathe in and out normally now…
Let’s play a pretend game…. I know that you can pretend really well, and we are going to use your powerful ability to dream, pretend and play to help you get so relaxed and feel so good…. and that is totally awesome …
I want you to pretend that for the next little while, your eyes are so totally closed that they don’t want to open… In fact I want you to pretend that your eyes are so closed that you really can’t open them…. And you can show yourself how well you pretend… When you are pretending really hard that your eyes won’t open, you can try to open them… and what is really cool, is that when you are pretending you can’t open them, they really don’t want to open… It’s a funny feeling, because you know you can always open your eyes if you want, but the more you pretend they won’t open, the heavier they get, and the harder you try to open them the more they stay closed… So do your very best pretending now, and pretend that your eyes won’t open….
That’s great, and as soon as you are pretending your very best that your eyes won’t open, you can try to open them, and when you are pretending really hard, it is totally cool because your eyes just won’t open and the harder you try the harder they stay closed… Go ahead and give your eyes a try… (That’s right! You are doing great pretending, and the wonderful thing about pretending is the harder you pretend, the more your eyes get totally peaceful and relaxed. (Pause 2-3 seconds).
Now let’s make your whole body and mind as relaxed as your eyes… Focus on your arms and pretend that your arms are giant pieces of spaghetti… feel your arms and hands get all tingly and heavy… all limp and floppy, just like really well-cooked spaghetti…. Just imagine your arms and hands being loose and limp, and the more you imagine the heavier and more relaxed your hands become…. You are doing a great job pretending and the more you pretend your arms are like spaghetti, the more relaxed they become…. Great pretending! It feels totally cool to have arms like spaghetti… so heavy, and floppy and limp.
Now send that relaxed feeling from your arms into your legs and body… that’s right, just pretend that your whole body is getting as relaxed as your eyes and arms…. Pretend that your whole body is as heavy and floppy as a bowlful of spaghetti… and the more you pretend, the heavier and looser and more relaxed your whole body begins to feel. You are doing a great job pretending and the harder you pretend the deeper you relax. (Pause for 2-3 seconds)
You are really good at this! And the great thing about pretending is that the more you pretend that your body is loose and floppy, the more you begin to sink into the chair and the more totally awesome you feel because you are doing such a great job of relaxing and the more you pretend, the more relaxed you really get. Notice how slow and peaceful and rhythmic your breathing has become because you are doing such a great job pretending to be like a heavy, floppy, relaxed plate of spaghetti! Notice how light and nice your mind feels as your body get all relaxed and floppy!
Now let’s do the coolest pretending of all… for the rest of our session, I want you to pretend you can’t remember your ABCs… Now I know that you are really smart and could never really forget your ABCs, but let’s just pretend that all the letters of the alphabet are getting ready to march right out of your mind, just like a parade… Imagine all the letters of the alphabet lining up and getting ready to march out of your mind for a little while… Now pretend they are going away, just disappearing…. There goes the Z now. Pretend the Z just marched right out of your mind…. It will come back as soon as your stop pretending to forget it… but every time you pretend a letter is marching away, your whole mind and body get more and more relaxed, and the harder you pretend, the more relaxed you get. And you are doing a great job of pretending. Feel how good it feels to pretend the Z is fading right out of your mind…. And as it fades away, you relax even deeper.
And now, pretend that the Y is following the Z right our of your mind.… And every letter you pretend to forget causes your mind to get more and more peaceful…. Now pretend that the X fades away too, and feel how good it feels to relax more and more as more letters fade away…. (Pause 2-3 seconds)
Now lets do some really good pretending and imagine a whole bunch of letters leaving at once…. W… V…. U… T… S… R…. Q…. P…. Pretend those letters are going, going, gone… and the harder you pretend the more the letters really march right out of your mind for a little while….
And the harder you pretend you are sending the letters away, the harder it is to remember the next letter to send and the better you feel… And the O fades away all by itself, and the N, the M, the L… and it feels so good to just relax totally and let all the letters fade away all at once and you pretend that you can’t even remember what letter comes next and all the letters all the way down to the A just fade right out of your mind. Just pretend the letters are all gone now. And the coolest thing is that the harder you pretend the, more the ABCs just fade away. And your mind relaxes deeper and deeper as each letter fades temporarily out of your mind. ( Pause 2-3 seconds)
You are doing great! You are so good at pretending that you are really in totally great hypnosis. And every breath you breathe makes you more relaxed. And every breath you breathe makes your mind open up and accept all the good ideas you hear about all the positive changes you want in your life. And the more you relax the more those wonderful changes happen effortlessly and automatically.
