It feels like the perfect place for you to visit and relax, and soon you find yourself sitting in the comfy chair, feeling quite content.
This is a lovely place to be, and it occurs to you that it would be just perfect, if there was someone to share it with.
And the next thing you know, a small child is seated in your lap, looking up at you. This is your own inner child, you as a little one, between two and six years old, come to visit.
Your inner child is here today to help you better understand your feelings, and release anything within you that might be in the way of your healing.
And, your inner child has come to and receive comfort, love, and support from you.
If you’re experiencing illness, your inner child may be sad or frightened by the situation, angry at your body for not being well, or even ashamed or guilty that you’ve done something wrong.
That’s quite a lot for any small child to manage, so it’s time to find out how your inner child feels, to give them some relief.
Ask your inner child to talk with you now about his or her feelings, and be sure to listen very patiently and carefully.
Sometimes children are shy, so you may need to encourage them at first, or even bend your head down so they can whisper in your ear.
Take some time now to learn what’s going on inside, understand what your feelings really are.
No matter what’s going on inside with your inner child, you can reassure them that you’re safe, so they can relax.
Take a moment to tell your inner child that even though things may seem mixed up right now, what you’re going through is all part of a much bigger plan, and everything is working the way it’s supposed to.
Imagine you’re showing your inner child a picture of some woven material, very close up, under a microscope.
As the two of you look at this, you have no way of making out where the material comes from or what it’s for, and all you can see are some fuzzy threads, crisscrossing over each other.
But as you take the material out from the magnifier, and unfold it, you can both see that it’s actually a wonderful giant tapestry with landscapes, houses, people, and animals all living out their lives, growing, learning, and sharing together.
Put the tapestry up on the wall of your heart room, so you can both admire how beautiful it is.
This moment in your life is one that may be hard to make sense of, like looking at the tapestry under a microscope, because you’re so close to it.
But seen in perspective, it’s just one part of a much larger story. A good story, about you and your inner child.
And even though it may seem like you’re in a rough patch at the moment, all is unfolding according to plan, and all is well.
Take a moment to let your inner child know that you love and appreciate them, that you’re being well taken care of, and that they don’t have to worry.
You need all your energy right now to heal, but emotional stress keeps some of your energy tied up.
The more you’re able to let go of anything that’s been bothering you, the more of your energy you can reclaim.
Ask your inner child to tell you if there’s anything you’ve been holding against yourself, perhaps about something you did or didn’t do.
If there is anything at all, this is the time to release it and let it go. So make an agreement with your inner child that the both of you forgive yourself right here and now, and put it forever in the past.
