Imagine you’re walking in a peaceful mountain meadow, on a warm summer morning.
The air is fresh and clear, and you can smell the scent of wildflowers on the gentle breeze.
It’s quiet here, and you’re greeted by the soft sound of a stream close by, the rustle of the leaves in the trees, and a bird song.
All around you are soft green colors of the plants, grasses and trees, dotted here and there with blossoms of purple, white, and cornflower blue.
And as you walk along you can feel the soft ground beneath your feet, and the warm sun on your face.
There’s a little stone cottage up ahead, one that looks as if it’s been here for ages, with a small garden in front, a stone chimney, painted shutters by the windows, and an old wooden front door.
Coming closer, you see there’s a paper note pinned to the door, and as you step up to it you’ll see your own name on the paper, followed by the words, “Come In.”
Just to be sure, you knock, and from within the cottage, you hear someone say “It’s open.”
As you step inside you’re greeted by someone who’s known and cared about you a long time.
This may be a relative who’s alive today or passed on, an old friend, or a spiritual figure who’s meaningful to you.
But most important, this is an ally—someone you trust deeply, who helps you know that you’re safe, and that all is well.
You may see this person, hear them, feel them as a presence in the room with you, or simply just know that they’re there.
Take a moment to connect with them now, and feel the love and support they bring you.
Your ally is about to help you as you step back in time, not to relive your past, but to release it.
Together, with complete protection and safety, you’ll touch very lightly into past events, in order to resolve and let go of any pain you experienced.
Checking to be sure you’re ready, your ally looks at you, gets the go- ahead, and opens the back door of the cottage.
The doorway is immediately flooded with light of whatever color you choose. There’s so much light that it’s impossible to see beyond the doorway.
And as you and your ally step through the door together, you arrive at a scene where you experienced trauma in the past, touching down just before the event is about to take place.
But this time, the whole scene is surrounded by that same color light as the doorway you just stepped through.
And this time, you and your ally begin changing that scene. Together, you’re doing whatever necessary to insure that nothing disturbing happens. That may involve putting up a barrier between you and any danger, creating a protective force-field, or neutralizing the danger in some way.
Or it may involve removing yourself and anyone else in danger from that scene. Take some time to re-envision this scene, surrounded by that color of light, so it unfolds in a new way that keeps you and anyone you care about from harm.
Continue to imagine this, until you come to a point where any danger or harm is completely neutralized.
Now, together with your ally, and surrounded by that same color of light, travel to another point in time when you experienced trauma, just before the event is about to take place.
This time, let that scene represent all the painful experiences you’ve ever had, so that today they can all be neutralized and released.
As before, you and your ally begin changing that scene, doing anything necessary to ensure that no harm comes to you or anyone you care about. Change the sequence of events, put up barriers, create a force field, or remove yourself and others from the situation, as needed.
Take some time to re-envision this scene, surrounded by the light, and continue until you come to a point where all the danger is completely gone.
Now you find yourself back in the cottage with your ally, sitting comfortably, safe and sound.
There’s still a protective light all around you, bringing you a feeling of peace, and wholeness.
Your ally comes around behind your chair, and places their hands on your shoulders.
And as they do, you feel a warm, healing energy traveling all through your body, mind and emotions.
This energy is sweeping through you from head to foot, clearing away any remaining threads of darkness within you, helping you trust that the past is now truly past, and all is well.
Take a few moments to experience this clearing process.
If you’ve been holding anything against yourself, any feelings of remorse, guilt, or thoughts that you should have done something different, now’s the time to let that go as well.
You’re a human being, and a good person, and did your best given the circumstances and what was known to you at the time.
As you continue to sit here, in the presence of your ally, in safety and comfort, place your hand on your heart, and give yourself the gift of love, forgiveness and healing.
Do this now, and let nothing stand in the way.
It will soon be time to bring this journey to a close.
So take a moment to thank your ally for their love and support, and to thank yourself for giving yourself the opportunity to be open to receive it.
