Choosing any position that’s comfortable right now. 

Getting ready for this practice of refreshing the felt-sense of your sankalpa, or if you don’t have a sankalpa, choosing one that feels right in the moment.

Tucking a thin pillow or blanket under your head if you like.

Cover yourself with a blanket if you like.

Doing anything you need to do to get as comfortable as possible. (long pause)

Check for any lumps or bumps of clothing, jewellery, or anything else that might distract you.

If you find any, adjust them now. (pause)

Scan your whole body, making sure you’re as comfortable as can be.

Feet relaxed… legs… hips… back… arms… shoulders… jaw… forehead. 

Checking in and making any further adjustments if it will help you be your most comfortable. (pause)

Feel yourself settling in. (pause)

And now, setting aside anything that’s happened before this moment.

Setting aside anything that’s happening after this practice.

Bring all of your awareness into your practice for the next 15 minutes.

Setting everything else aside for these moments to refresh and reconnect.

Take a deep breath in… and as you exhale, letting go.

Let go of any thoughts, any need to do. Just being.

This is your time for yourself.

Your time to simply enjoy peace. (pause)

Make any final adjustments if you haven’t already. (pause)

Begin to experience the stillness even more. 

Know that you can move, but if it feels good, allow yourself to enjoy this stillness. 

This chance to do nothing.

Resting. Just as you like.

If it feels restful, allow these words to be received energetically, rather than mentally. 

Even the mind can rest now.

In its place, there is effortless awareness. (pause)

Feel all experience becoming more and more effortless.

Serene and effortless. (pause)

Yoga Nidra has now begun. (pause)


Now is the time to state your sankalpa, or heart-felt resolve.

If you already have a sankalpa, allow the joyful feeling of it to arise now. (pause)

If you don’t have a sankalpa, you can use: “I am healthy”, “I am peaceful”, “I am energized” or anything that spontaneously arises in your mind.

Really feel the sankalpa, picture it – as vividly as you can. What does it look like? What does it sound like? How do you feel? (pause)

If the feeling is there, your sankalpa can’t help but be manifested.

Right now, state your sankalpa, 3 times with certainty and feeling. (pause)

Your sankalpa has been received and is already being manifested.

Rotation of Consciousness

Now a series of energetic points will be named.

Allow the awareness to float effortlessly from point to point.

Start by floating awareness to the point between the eyebrows

Floating awareness

The right elbow joint

The right thumb

Resting awareness at the heart centre. Not thinking, just feeling. (pause)

Breath Awareness

Notice the chest gently rising and falling with each breath.

Nothing for you to do.

The body is breathing itself.

Simply witnessing. (pause)

Now bring awareness to the nostrils. (pause)

Move awareness to the right nostril.

Feel that with each breath stream coming in the right nostril, action, and passion are stimulated.

Right nostril, action, and passion stimulated. (pause for 3 breaths)

Now move awareness to the left nostril.

Feel that with each breath stream coming in the left nostril, relaxation

and calm are stimulated.

Left nostril, relaxation and calm. (pause for 3 breaths)

Now bring awareness to both nostrils and feel the balance of two streams of breath coming in, right and left, passionate action and relaxing calm.

Take a few deep breaths now, fully awake and aware, feeling a balance of passionate action and relaxing calm. (pause for 3 breaths)


Now allow your sankalpa to arise again.

Allow your sankalpa to arise again in words and feeling.

Really feel the sankalpa, picture it – as vividly as you can. (pause)

If the feeling is there, it can’t help but be manifested.

Right now, state your sankalpa, 3 times with clarity and feeling. (pause)

Your sankalpa has been received and is already being manifested.

Rest now in the joyful feeling of your manifested sankalpa. (pause for 30 seconds)


Now bring awareness back to the heart centre.

Notice the heart centre rising on inhalation, falling on exhalation.

Bring awareness back to your body.

Feel your body peacefully resting.

Yoga Nidra is now complete. (pause)

Feel the support beneath you. (pause)

Notice the temperature of the space you’re in. (pause)

Notice the sounds. (pause)

Introduce more movement in the body by taking a deep breath. (pause)

Now wiggle your fingers and toes. Feel the energy come back to the

body like electrical currents.

Stretch or move your body any way you like. Continue to feel the energy coming back to the body. (pause)

And if you’re lying down, when you’re ready, roll to your right side.

Take a few deep breaths here. Remember your sankalpa and the wonderful feeling of your sankalpa once more. 

Hold that feeling with you. (pause)

If you were lying down, slowly, gently press yourself up to sitting, keep your eyes closed if you can, and take a deep breath. (pause)

We’ll finish by chanting Om three times and Shanti three times. 

Om is a universal vibration. Shanti means peace.

Om, Om, Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti (pause)

When you’re ready, softly open your eyes and bring the beautiful feeling of your sankalpa into the room and into the rest of your day.
